Estate Wedding In Aspen

August 23, 2016

From the Bride, Angele:

We met in Aspen four years ago and share a love for the outdoors, which attributed to our decision to have the ceremony and reception outdoors during our favorite time of the year, fall. We were determined to make our wedding something that was uniquely ours and our wedding was filled with very personal touches; from out officiant (my uncle), to the designing of the ceremony timeline and writing of our own vows, the food and cocktails we served and hosting our wedding at my family’s home. Since Jim is a chef, there was no need to do any menu tastings – he created our menu based on our favorite dishes to eat as a family at home.

I had a very clear image in my head of what I wanted our wedding to be and also had complete trust in our vendors. Since we both have or currently work in the hospitality and event industry in the Aspen valley, we knew who we wanted to work with and exactly what we wanted so there was very little guess work when it came to planning. I have always loved the romantic, English garden style so our wedding was filled with twinkle lights, lace and stunning florals with draping greens. Our wedding planner, EKS Events, caterer, ASC Catering, and florist, Mountain Flowers of Aspen, understood my vision and executed it perfectly.

Our rehearsal dinner on Friday night was in the barn on my family’s property and was rustic and casual, catered by our good friends from Slow Groovin’ BBQ from nearby Marble, CO. Although it was very windy and rainy, the weather drove everyone inside and created the perfect atmosphere for our family and friends to get to know one another. The wind and rain cleared overnight and we woke up to the perfect fall day on Saturday. We timed our ceremony to coincide with dusk and our guests enjoyed a cocktail hour with chef’s harvest table during sunset after the ceremony. The guests were then invited into a clear top tent (strung with twinkle lights by the bride and her dad) for a seated, family style dinner. After toasts from the best man (the groom’s son), maids of honor (groom’s daughter and bride’s two best friends) and parents of the bride and groom, we enjoyed a first dance and invited everyone else to dance with us – which turned into quite the party thanks to DJ Naka G. The evening was picture perfect, captured by talented photographer, Rouxby, and guests were invited to dance or sit by the multiple fireplaces and fire pits around the home and gardens and enjoy s’mores.
